Godavari Urban Development Authority goes operational from 3rd June 2017.

Godavari Urban Development Authority Merged Rajahmundry, Kakinada and other Muncipalities From 3rd june 2017 where Kakinada City will be serving as the headquarters.

The jurisdictional area of GUDA is spread over an area of 884 km2 (341 sq mi) and it covers 203 villages in 20 mandals of the district. The urban local bodies in the jurisdiction covers, two municipal corporations of Rajahmundry and Kakinada; three municipalities viz., Samalkot, Peddapuram and Pithapuram; only nagar panchayat of Gollaproolu.
